I have been looking around and just want to know what would be the best/cost effective and inclusive kit...

I saw the API master kit (runs around $20 - $30 USD) it uses color to determine values...
-- Tests include: freshwater pH, ammonia, nitrite, high range pH, GH & KH, 4 test tubes, tray. • Tests include: freshwater pH, high range pH, ammonia, nitrite, GH (general hardness) and KH (carbonate hardness). Kit features 4 test tubes, a holding tray for testing bottles and test tube rack.

It there a moderately priced (under $40ish) digital version that would show these results?

Is there any other testing I should use?

Digital-LCD-TDS-3-Meter? I have seen some comments on these but again... searching this entire site for the information is a touch daunting where is someone just shot me a link, it would be alot more efficient. The last post I got some great information and good replies...

You can get a meter that reads pH, but I hear that they can become inaccurate over time... as can TDS meters if not kept clean and calibrated.

I use the HM TDS-EZ meter myself. Either one should work fine.

I'm not aware of any other "cheap" testing kits, but I have heard that the Sera and Nutrafin test kits are easier to read than the API one, and they do have a broader range of pH values on the chart.
