To be accurate you'd use how many gallons of water you actually have, but using 75 for a 75 gal tank is typically close enough.

Second question, yes.

 

Actual water volume and yes much more precise.

But keep in mind EI is only a guideline. You may require more or less of anything or everything. But it's a good place to start.

 

@burr740 @Greggz Ok thank you, I tried both ranges for 10-20 and 20-40 but wasn't sure if I had too much or too little. My 20 gallon is heavily planted with carpet plants and stem plants, but there's not much mass for stem plants so maybe that's why I was getting green water frequently. I should've used this calculator from the start of my tank setup oh well though you learn as you go

 

Should I be inputting how much water I have in the tank or the size of the actual tank for this calculator?



Also, would this calculator be more precise for EI dosing compared to the general dosing instructions that NilocG and GLA has? Ex. 10-20, 20-40 gallons etc.

The app has a built-in Macro and Micro dose calculator. I am not sure if this app is available on iOS.
