Eleocharis Belem vs Parvula

Hey everyone,

I recently ordered some Eleocharis belem and Eleocharis parvula and after seeing how much they look alike I'm starting to wonder if belem is worth the trouble. I had a heck of a time trying to plant the Belem submersed, I ended up tying the pieces to stainless steel mesh in order to weight it down. The parvula on the other hand was extremely simple with the longer roots.

With that being said, I can just cut the Parvula down to the same height as the Belem, correct? What would make anyone want to choose Belem over Parvula if it were just a matter of trimming the Parvula down to Belem height? Does Belem carpet thicker or have a nicer green color?

Just curious because I am looking to order more of either and would like to know the pros and cons of each before doing so.

Thanks!

I have a hard time telling the difference between these two. i have what was sold as Parvula, but it doesn't grow straight up.

The only difference I can tell between the two is when planting. The Belem was a mat that needed to be cut into chunks with scissors. The parvula I could piece off with tweezers and plant in small bunches because of the longer roots.
