tonight i potted up some of the sprouted black mangrove (Avicennia germinans)seedlings that i produced with propagules that i acquired back in January.
these are really neat little plants. while red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle) are already popular for use with saltwater aquariums, black mangrove apparently has not been used with aquarium displays. i am interested to see how these perform. it might be a useful plant for a brackish water riparium--perhaps to build a Florida or Caribbean biotope.
i have more about these on my blog.
