The only brand I've used so far is Flourish which is at Petsmart. Petco carries the API brand.

 

Oh, I didnt see any of those....All I saw were some root tabs made by 'Jungle' brand....which I saw most of Walmarts aquarium products were made by, and assumed it was probably trash.

Ill have to keep my eyes peeled for that other stuff. Thanks

 

Some petco/smart carry them. But it is hard to find them. They aren't in the aisle with the rest of the conditioners (even the other plant stuff).

In my petsmart, the Flourish stuff is under the plants in the tubes. And in Petco the API is where the plant substrate and Hagen CO2 thing is. But in the Petsmart in the next city over, they do not have Flourish at all.

Was wondering what you guys suggest as the best root tab fertilizers that i can find locally (aka petco, petsmart). Id like to just dip a toe into that realm to see if it makes any improvement. Thanks!

I've only tried the Jungle ones - I figured it was a better value since it was more tabs at the same price. Swords took off when I used them.. my other plants, not so much.

I have tried the Jungle ones and like them. They are at Petco for Sure

 

i really dont like the API i think the flourish is a thousand times better they dont break apart and turn into nothing... the flourish last a looooooong time

i have good results with plant jobes.(NPK sticks)
i use the generic one at walmart. 50 for a dollar

 

Be careful with these; if they get stirred up into the water column, you may get a big algal bloom.

 

If you cant find a local source for your root tabs, you could easily make your own with this kit.

Alright are you guys SURE petsmart carries flourish tabs?

I just called 3 petsmarts, 2 said they didnt have any root tabs period, and one said they have root tabs, but they're API brand, which I thought you guys were saying is the kind Petco carries...

I cant find anything about the flourish root tabs on Petsmarts website either. AHHH. Thanks for any help to set me straight.

 

Most PetSmart's cary the API brand which is OK but you have to replace them more often. Most PetCo's in the Kansas City area have the Flourish tabs but not all and they only stock one or two at a time and there in a little hanging stand next to the plant tanks. It all depends on the local management.

Really ether of them will work fine it's just that the API tabs have to be replaced twice as fast.
