Algae and moss

What's the best way to kill off algae living in moss without killing the moss itself?

i tried that route but it ended up being on there too long and too concentrated, and totally browned out and killed my poor java moss. with my flame moss i just left it alone and eventually the moss grew out and just took over where the algae used to be, i can't even see it in the mat anymore.
