One of my first forrays into fish keeping was a zigzag eel, Macrognathus circumcinctus, not be confused with the tire track eel, M. armatus. I would like to get another one of these guys, lost the first after a couple years do to digestive problems, aka overfeeding bloodworms. But I have learned from mistakes made and am now a out of my noob aquarist stage and fully capable of providing for one of these guys properly.

I want to set up a biotope if I do get one. The species is known from the Mae Khlong and Chao Phraya basins to the Lower Mekong basin, the Malay Peninsula, Indonesia (Sumatra), and Sarawak (Rajang basin; Parenti and Lim 2005). I am looking to compile a list of plant species native to this area, both floating or rooted or whatever.

Also, does anyone know of any livebearers and/or shrimp native to this region? I want to keep some in the tank for a constant supply of live food since they are carnivores.

Any help is appreciated.
