So, I went creeking this past Wednesday (here in central/eastern kentucky), and happened across a strange moss-type plant.

I grew in shallow water, in strands up to a foot long, but the structure just makes me think moss, especially since it attached itself to rock and wood the way moss tends to. Possibly due to the season, the strands began black/dark brown, and were green only at the very tips.

It was cool, so I bagged some up and brought it back.
I'm hoping that in good clean water with bright light, it'll grow full-green which would be awesome :]
