Xmas moss grow up or down?

I want to attach some xmas moss to branches as a wall on the back of my tank. and instead of just buying a lot of moss, just wondering if it will grow down, grow up, or just spread all over in general?

That's a good question; I'd wondered the same about java moss when anchoring it to wood. I know the little branches in the middle will continue to grow outward, but will it grow on both cut ends?

Grows more up than down, but spreads into all directions over time.
