Hi folks,

I'll be purchasing a 125g from a seller on craigslist next week after he moves all his livestock to a larger tank. I'll be using it for discus and would like to go planted / pressurized CO2. I keep reading how the wpg equation breaks down for nano and large tanks. How many watts would I need to go, say, med-high lighting? The setup I'm buying has 2 36" T8 3bulb fixtures, which I'm thinking isn't near enough. Not sure the wattage on them either.

thanks in advance

I'd say anywhere between 250-350 would be good. But I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

My 125 is using 4 X 96 PCs (2 X 96 for 9 hours & 2 X 96 for 2 hour noon burst) and I am growing plants that are listed as medium High to High light. I've actually put in some floating plants to help with some algae.

One of the Mods uses a Sunlight Supply Tek light T5 4x54 watt low tech tank (no CO2) just fine on a 4 foot 120 gallon. But this is a six foot tank, I guess.
