I agree, malaysian driftwood is pretty easy to get ahold of, and comes in some interesting and unique pieces. Ghostwood is great for wet environments, and tends to grow some cool mosses and plants. Cork makes a good background and holds up well in the moisture too.

I use fake branches in my frogs viv.

I'm told over and over that if you let the grapewood fuzzy mold run it's course it will never come back. I've never gotten there and likely never will.

The fake twisty branch stuff is pretty awsome actualy and can be made into some very neat features. You can tie moss to it and it will grow (if proper wet and light).
