I picked up 8 small, brown shrimp (they were in a tank with Amano shrimp - but look like wild-type Neos) to help with some algae in my newly planted 10g tank. The tank is about 4 weeks old, and completed a fishless cycle about a week ago.

Since then I had been supplementing with daily ammonia up to 1-2 ppm (next day, no ammonia, no nitrites). But now I have the 8 small shrimp. I doubt they will produce enough waste to keep the bacteria happy - but will adding ammonia kill the shrimp? The fish will be added next weekend (Saturday).

Thanks!

Will I experience enough of a decrease in bacteria population with the decreased nitrogen waste production in a one week period that I will run into trouble when I stock the tank with fish?
