Good morning all,

In my first planted tank I have a group of horny platys (as you all know they are breeding machines). So I am starting up my 2nd planted tank in a 5g portrait for the sole purpose of raising my Platy babies which I am then donating to my local elementary school for the kids to raise in their aquariums.

So that said, I'm planning my janitorial crew - dwarf cats, otto-cat, nerite, and shrimp?

Which brings me to my question, will shrimp eat the baby fish?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

If you avoid amanos, maybe ghost shrimp, macro shrimp (more like prawns), and *maybe* tiger shrimp, then ya, any shrimp you put in there should be okay! Just make sure that the water parameters are safe for the shrimp you are putting in there.

Personally though, I wouldn't put any shrimp in a container smaller than 10 gallons. Although many people have done it, shrimp enjoy stability, and a tank smaller than 10 gallons may have bigger problems with stability.
