Hey Scott I have been hearing your name a lot from Mark. Guess we are both getting some nice clippings from him. Tried going by Rainbow a couple weeks ago on Sat and they were closed at 3pm. Did you ever order up some other shrimp?

I could be wrong but it appears that Rainbow Fish is going all Marine ... help help the dark side of the force has him ... also from what I can gather Mark does not work there any longer :(

Sea Dreams on East Harry seems to be "the" place for fish at the moment and they have recently started getting some really nice plants in stock. Nothing too rare or expensive but good stock and not too pricey, oh and that goes for their fish too!

The Mark im talking about never worked at Rainbow that i know of.

Also the old Fins and Feathers seems to have the best plant selection of recently then Sea Dreams or any other LFS. Fins is now called Petland but still in the same location out in West Wichita. They really seem to be trying to make a push for plants. Not many rares but still they are at least trying.

None of these places carry planted tank equipment yet...so gotta love the sponsors here.

Hi Im from hutchinson kans, go to wichita and hit all the petstores that carry good variety of fish and plants. Sea Dreams is good, fins and feathers has large selection of plants and fish, I keep Amazon river aquarium (45 gal bowfront) most all plants and all my fish are variations of native fish.

Pet World of Newton is where I work and we carry 50-60 different types of plants. If you want to do a planted tank we are the place to go hands down as we don't keep fish with our plants. The tanks are specifically for plants.

316-283-8400 is the shop number. We are also thinking about putting in a co2 refill station

Reviving this thread...

I am just South of Newton. Petworld is good, but the Petworld in ICT (same shopping center where Fins and Feathers was) is better. Tad took over that one and all of the planted tank knowledge is there with him. They occasionally get in some shrimp as well.

Newton is fine for picking up necessaries. I did get a clump of dwarf sag there and it is doing well.

Black Pearl is good, if you can be there when the store is open. I have been able to go inside once out of 3 tries, I have learned to call first before I go!

I lived in Topeka for thirteen years. My grandmother lives in Anthony in Harper County to the south of Wichita. I passed through town a lot on my way to see her. I also used to pass through Wichita to go to Fort Sill Oklahoma. Wichita State University sent me to Puebla, Mexico in 1989 to study Spanish for six weeks. The professors had a comprehensive well established program down there.

I was putzing around with a 55 gallon tank at the time. It was a pathetic failure. I tried to diffuse CO2 with an inverted clear glass casserole dish weighted down with two bricks on top. There was no regulator or needle valve. When too much gas was injected underneath the casserole dish would flip over. I thought the giant reactor would work over the course of some hours but it didn't. It was like a little miniature Fukushima scenario.
