White tissue-like algae... help!

Hi All,

I've recently stocked my tank after cycling and I've had a really weird algae/fungus growth that I've never seen before. It almost looks like someone has dropped a tissue in the tank and it's everywhere.

I last looked at my tank about 4 hours ago and it was nowhere to be seen! Now it has grown everywhere.

Can anyone help me identify what it is and how to remedy?

Thanks,
Tom

Bio film maybe. It could be getting knocked down into the water column from the surface by your filter if it's an HOB. Too much left over food is one cause. Leaching soil organics another. You can scoop out what you can. Increase surface agitation some. Maybe run an airstone for a while each day. It will probably go away on its own.
Great - thanks for your help. I'll give that a go.

I don't have a HOB Filter, so not sure what pushed it into the tank, but it seems to easily break up and get filtered away.

Fish often nip at it for a taste, and once pulled under just a bit, it saturates and sinks :)
