I recently (two days ago) drained the water out of my 20 high (rehomed fish) and left just enough water to cover most of the DHG. I have a light cylcing 10 hours a day and was hoping to get the carpet to spread across the entire tank (currently about 1/3rd) before refilling it and adding back fish (I drained it in order to eventually move it to another room). This morning, I noticed a bunch of white fuzz on the DHG. Some sort of fungus I presume. I sprayed it with Excel to see if that will kill it off. Should I be concerned? Will it go away? Also, the tank doesn't smell that great from two years of keeping fish in it, so I'm wondering if I should just drain all the water and remove or wash the substrate then start over. I was hoping to just grow out the DHG fully then refill and put fish back in though.

Excel killed it off and it hasn't come back in two days.
