White fungus on new driftwood

I think this is relatively safe, but just asking for a second opinion, tank is cycling currently, coming to the end now hopefully, I have a few odd spots of algae but nothing major.

Would you leave this as is or would you remove it?

This is normal for pretty much any type of wood newly added to a tank. Nothing to worry about. You can leave it or remove it, up to you. It'll likely disappear within a few weeks.

i once tried removing it but it returned really quickly. solved it by adding an algae eater

I have it in my turtles tank also, they’ll actually eat it themselves if it gets bad, I believe it to be completely harmless, just doesn’t look good.

I can’t really get an algae eater as I’ll have a Betta in there when it’s ready
