Ugh..:confused1: So I was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with some sort of white fungus or sumthing that looks like fungus growing on the ceramic part of the CO2 diffuser??? because i just noticed that it keeps building up and preventing my diffuser from creating the small bubbles it is suppose to. It will just give me regular size bubbles like out of an air stone with in a week or less of cleaning it. I run DIY CO2 and my water is prolly PH: 7 to 7.4. i also do a weekly water change taking 30-40% of the water out when i do my change. Im just dumbfounded because i have no clue what it is or where to start my research. thanks so much!

hmm you might be right. but i have just never seen it before and i have been running constant DIY co2 for months if not a full year by now. also i observed it on my co2 wall diffuser (bubble goes back n forth to diffuse) a long time ago but it was very little. so you might be right..any way to prevent this? maybe a 'bubble counter' like the cheap-o ones on [Ebay Link Removed] for the suggestion!

if you're running diy you can make a gas seperator. some people just have a small empty soda bottle, some fill the bottle halfway with water and put the co2 line under water so that it works like a water filter.

the stuff is definately from your mixture, bye the way

I use a tall 1 liter bottle of Smartwater as my bubble counter/gas washer. No yeastie-beasties get through to my tank.

i would use a the smallest bottle you can get like a 4oz water bottle an drill the top, i like small so they arent top heavy but im sure u can make it so it wont tip over if not

mine was a small coke bottle zip tied to the larger 2 liter so it didnt fall

ya that sounds about right thanks so much. So that's why i see those things in use alot of times! thanks so much everyone. Do you have to use this same setup with pressurized CO2??? okay I'm going to fix this tonight and clean my diffuser again! ugh..

presurized doesnt contain anything but co2 no yeast so its not needed, but you will see most people have a bubble counter so they can judge the ammount of co2 needed as a guide but isnt a must have item just makes life much more easy like having the bottle to catch the yeast.
