They're expensive because they require brackish water to breed, if I'm not mistaken a lot of them are wild caught. I have two in my ten gallon, with one betta and 6-7 ghost shrimp. The little one is very active but the big one chills in the same spot for a few days at a time.
If you get them, keep an eye on them. They have a hard time flipping themselves over in tanks if they fall on their backs. I've had to rescue my big guy a few times so far.
