Want to rig up a simple surface skimmer, but the skimmer attachments I've found don't fit the fluval fx6 tubing. If I were to purchase the fluval surface skimmer attachment, which powerhead could I attach it to? I am willing to do a bit of modifying if necessary, but I'd like to keep it to a minimum. Thanks!

Generally a skimmer in fresh water is attached to a filter intake, and the debris gets trapped by the filter.

If you attached it to a PH you would need something to trap the bits of leaves and other things that enter the skimmer.

I understand that they are usually hooked up to the filter, but the one I'm using doesn't fit properly. I plan on putting it on a timer so that it only runs periodically to rid the surface of film. I would just like to know if the fluval skimmer would fit a marineland maxi jet, for example, or any other powerhead.

The Eheim is effective from what I've read, I may end up resorting to it. Only problem I have is with aesthetics. My background is black, the eheim is grey. I may end up finding a way to hide it with plants though.
