I have a nice large piece of vine root in my 5ft/450L tank and would like to attach some plants to it, I've been looking at various mosses but not too sure what to go for, any suggestions.
Thanks in advance

If you have the time to trim it Java is easy but looks eratic to me.
But trimming it close makes it dense/short so it won't die underneath.
Christmas or Weeping moss is better but one of those requires special care
so check which it is and get the other.
Fissidens need current but look great for a while. It tends to get too long for my taste
and eventually you won't be able to see the shape of the wood. The mini Fissidens only get about 3/4" so IF you can find it that would work better and still you can see the shape of the wood.
Then there is also Buce and mini Pellia and Nana Petete.

thanks for that Raymond, have to say I don't fancy the Java, these are a few I've been looking at and includes the christmas moss but will check your other suggestions out

Utricularia graminifolia
Vesicularia montagnei
Fissidens geppii
Riccardia chemedryfolia
Riccia fluitans
