I've had good luck finding driftwood in some southern Colorado locations, but does anyone know of a good place to hunt closer to home? I'm in the ABQ/SF area but could drive a bit. Thanks!

ETA: posted specifically in the "New Mexico" thread looking for input from locals who are aware that we live in a desert with limited water and not a ton of trees everywhere. Cheers!

Definitely hit up your local reservoirs, take a look specifically around any very rocky areas close to the water. Usually with water fluctuations, the driftwood will be brought up to the rocks and then when the water level recedes again it will be stuck there by the terrain. I found a few pieces like this around the Yellowstone area.

OK I'll hit up all the local reservoirs...in New Mexico. Shouldn't take long ;)

The online driftwood is rather small and a variety of sizes can be found at some of state's local tributaries such as the Santa Rosa Lake Park which flows along the Pecos and picks up a variety of nicely shaped and varied sized chunks of driftwood. Also try the Ft. Sumner lake inlet of the Pecos (Alamogordo Draw) I found hundreds of pieces worthy of a tank aficionado's habit.

I'd repeat the cholla recommendation, or other dry weathered desert wood. Your really looking for any well weathered wood. Something that's already spent a long time in water will change your tank the least, but something that has spent a long time in the sun is pretty close.
