I generally have thicker spots of substrate in different areas depending on how I scape the tank. I will just grab 3 bags just in case, and have extra for future scapes lol.I just redid my 75g with bdbs, you can see it from the link in my sig, and I used about a bag and half or one pound per gallon. Two bags should do it unless you are going really thick. Mine is capping dirt and is about an 1 1/2 thick or so.
