Hi all, I've been lurking and coveting around here for awhile, and now I'm ready to take action! But I can't find what I want. Where can I buy a single 24" T8 fixture for my hood?

I have a new SeaClear with hood. The hood has a single T8 fixture, but it has an empty expansion bay. No problem, I thought, and I ordered this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753095 But a reviewer says this is a T12 fixture, and I read today that T12s are noisy.

In searching online, I can find T5 fixtures but not T8. I guess it doesn't matter, but it seems like it would be a little easier if the two bulbs in the hood were both T8s. I'm looking at low light, low tech, so I'm fine with amount of lighting -- I just want a little boost without a florescent hum.

Will something like this work? You don't have to use the hood and maybe just put a spacer between the fixture and the top of your seaclear. How wide is your seaclear?

It's a 36 gallon, about 30 inches wide, but the hood is only 24". Here are some pictures. Ideally, I would like a single T8 fixture that I could add to the empty side and it would match the existing light. I like that the hood/light fits neatly into the opening, and I'd like to keep it.

I ordered the T5, too. I'll see if one of them works in my hood. Thanks -- I hope I have something to show soon. :icon_wink
