The 40 Longs that I know of are 48" long not 36". Why not go with a 20 Long or that Mr. Aqua 12 Gallon tank? I think those are the dimensions you're shooting for. You could get a 20L from Petco at their $1 a gallon sale for real cheap.
I know! Thats what im looking for. Only problem is that the breeder is tall (well, pretty much standard height, but unnecessary gallonage that i dont need). Im trying to go for the biggest tank possible that i could fit, but that isnt high, to keep the gallonage (Dont even know if thats a word) as low as possible, in hopes that my parents will be OK with me adding another tank in my room.. (Already got my 75G upstairsKeep on looking, perhaps Craig's List or garage sales.
Shipping on an aquarium is very expensive, so look locally.
Nothing wrong with being 18 and living at home!
I have a 40 gallon breeder, and it would make a great shrimp tank. The extra depth from wall the front of tank makes designing the layout really easy. Very easy to get a 3-D effect. Just cannot do that with narrower tanks.
I am also 18 living with my mom and grandma. I still don't see myself even being able to move out in the next year or so to be honest. Financially I would not be capable of it.Hi there. Currently got a 75G Tank. Looking to get my hands on another tank (if not TOO pricey) To make into a shrimp tank.
Im thinkin something around 36"x18"x12" or so? I Was looking around and found a 36"x18"x13" which is supposed to be size 40 Long but the only place i found them was glasscages.com, which is something like 100$ Plus 36$ Delivery to the nearest pick-up area which is an hour and a half away (50$ Just in gas, if not more, in my F150 -.-).
Anyhow, anyone know a good place to get a tank from? In case i cant convince my parents (Yes, i still live with my parents, im 18 :icon_redf ), id have to shoot for something smaller. Say 30"x16"x12"? trying to stay with something wide and short to make a great display, but that isnt TOO Short to the point where i cant have plants and stuff in it. 24" seems a tad bit small (isnt that the width of a 10 gallon?) so id say 30" Minimum..
Yeah try and wait for the dollar a gallon sale. I bought a 40b for $125 and a few weeks later the dollar/gallon sale was on and I was very frustrated. Was at petco earlier. They had 20L and 40B tanks. You were right, btw. 40L is apparently 4' long. Weird because the site i was looking at was saying 40L was 36". maybe they meant 40B.
Anyways, im looking into 20L or 40B as of right now. The 20L Was 40something bucks and the 40B was 115$ At petco. That sale is currently not going on. I may just wait for now, idk. Trying to find one on craigslist for now.
Haha yeah i dont plan on moving out anytime soon, either. Still got 3 years or so of college, so im taking my sweet time :thumbsup:I am also 18 living with my mom and grandma. I still don't see myself even being able to move out in the next year or so to be honest. Financially I would not be capable of it.
9000 a month? Im talking about 15000 a year. close to 16 now, haha.Try ~$9,000 in property taxes in CA, and that's with Jarvis Prop 13 that supposedly keeps the RE taxes to 1% of the original value.![]()
What they forgot are all the 'special' assessments that add another ton.
But that's off the subject....
IMO, if you can, go with 40B as it will give you more options now and in the future. An you can always sell the shrimp to pay for itRelatively shallow tanks (~12") pose their own set of unique challenges.
