Plan to have a couple lower light plants in the tank (Java ferns, Anubias) and other plants that cichlids don't go after (or go after less) what do you think of this light for a 55 gallon tank?

Why would you recommend this light over the one I have?

I have that light. It's not very bright for what it costs. If you already have it. Guess work with what you got.

DA Fspec. Is half the price and nearly twice as bright. Also it's cooler spectrum complements rift lake cichlids nicely

Bump: That said don't get your hopes up too much for a nice plantedtank with mbuna. I tried with my Saulosi colony. They ripped up java fern and anubias. Also it's personal preference but I now prefer mbuna with rocks and sand. Natural habitat

Would go for the DA Fspec. You can see the looks of the dhl and fspec here. If looking for cooler light the fspec.
