What's this on my discus?

Just noticed this today. It looks like a little flap of skin or scale or something, maybe like he scraped himself on a piece of driftwood. But maybe it's ich or something; I don't know. Thanks for any input!

It is certainly not Ich. It does not look like a scrape to me either. Maybe just a pimple like humans get. I would watch it for couple of days looking for shape change, discoloration, fish behavior. If it does not get better, I would personally treat for external parasites or wait for a better ID from other members.

Bump.

Second photo look's like possible anchor worm attached to the spot but I could easily be mistaken.
I too might consider anti-parasite (Prazipro,Paragaurd) but only if after looking closely I saw anything attached to the spot, or observed white stringy poop as opposed to solid well formed poop.
Def not ich if you temp is high as with Discus, they should almost never get ich due to the higher temps. Watch him if hes eating alright and appears healthy I would wait before medicating the tank. Want to make sure what it is before putting them through the stress of a treatment. If you do decide to treat I would seperate him from your other fish.
its just a pimple, discus get these all the time, means you need to up water changes/improve your maintenance schedule. they come and go and aren't anything to worry with. when it busts, watch the sore it leaves behind that it doesn't get infected. nothing to worry about really. no need for medication.
Doesn't look like anything serious - so please don't medicate, at least for now.
Maintain good water changes, and observe for any changes over the next few days.
The fish looks healthy & unstressed, so whatever it is doesn't appear to be bothersome.
Great. Thanks. I will watch and wait. I am new to discus, and literally just had a nightmare that it was a big weird nasty Alien-like parasite. :)
I would say the best thing you can do if you are new to discus is get your water change down to the best time management method you possibly can, that's all those guys every wanted is fresh daily water and bloodworms/blackworms. pimples come and go often.

Pimples on discus...Who knew? :icon_eek:

I just replaced the top layer of soil in my tank, so it's probably related to that (change in water chemistry or stress). But I will definitely go for more frequent water changes and extra blood worms to pamper them after the stress.

Thanks a lot.
