What's this in my tank?

White stuff at the back of the tank. Seems to collect around the filter. This has appeared twice. I have no inhabitants.

Anybody?
Weird, I have no idea... Sorry I can't be of more help...
Never seen that before. Could you describe what it looks like and is it solid or break apart if you pick it out?
is it white?

have you felt any of it? i have no idea what it is, but i'm curious to see what it is.
Could it be mineral deposits that collect around the lip of the HOB that then eventually fall off and crumble? Are they hard and flaky? Or soft? What is the texture?

What is your water like? Hard/high mineral content? Or soft?
No inhabitants being fed? Normally I would say it would be bits of food leftover growing mold or fungus. I often get hard water deposits falling back into my tank after I move my tubing around but it is always dissolved back into the water and goes away.
It is white and fluffy. Not very cohesive. Nothing is in the tank. I have soft water, but I EI dose. I should note that my HOB provides terrible flow--it literally drips out.
Any mineral deposits or something that was stuck inside the filters? or... if your tank does not have the cover..then...fallen paint chips??
When you say they are fluffy, I can only think that they are some type of mold/fungus. Do they grow in size? Do they multiply? Is there anything rotting in the tank? Like plant bits? Did something fall into the tank? I first thought they were mineral deposits too, but those are flaky and hard and should dissolve when in water....

is that bad flow because the filter is clogged? or because its a crappy filter?

i noticed when i had a break out of stuff, the stuff had made itself a home in my filter and clogged it up so the flow was just a drip.
