Does anyone know what the cause of this is on my Wisteria?

Let's start with a list of animals in your tank. Can you give us one?

How long has this plant been planted?
It has been planted for about 3 weeks.

Fauna: 1 CAE, 14 ghost shrimp, 15 amanos (just added today).
I doubt that has anything do do with animals eating the plant. It looks like the plant is starving.

Is that pic of new growth or old growth? Is the new growth looking good still?
It's a plant deficiency, probably not getting the nutrients it needs.
looks like snails or something.. Doens't look like nutrient deficiency.
I may be wrong, but i disagree.

can we see a better photo of the whole plant?
Yeah I don't have a very good camera but i will get some more shots.

I think I may agree with mistergreen that it may be a little critter. The clear lines look like paths.
Looks to me like pinch marks. These are Wisterias (H. difformis) that have been grown emersed. My guess is shipping damage. The new foliage looks good. Be patient, grasshopper.
^^^^^^

I agree. The new growth looks good and without the marks. The old leaves look emersed.....give it some time, top off the new growth once it's 4 or more inches and replant....I wouldn't change anything with regards to your fauna or dosing at this point....
Those leaves that have the marks were grown in my aquarium. A little history:

I got these plants about 1 1/2 months ago from my lfs when they were about 3 or 4 inches tall. I put them in my fifty five gallon which at the time only had 30 watts of old lighting in it. Most of the lower leaves died off so when I replanted it in the new set up i trimmed the bottom stem down to about 4 inches tall again. So most of the growth you see on the plant was done in my aquarium. The new growth begins to develop the marks fairly quickly.

Sorry to make this more confusing.
Does anyone know what this is considering the new information I have posted?

Any help is greatly appreciated
That CAE ~ those are also called SAEs, right? I've heard that they, or the flying foxes they are commonly mistaken for, suck on leaves sometimes. I remember reading a thread on here about someone with marks very much like yours on their plants, but they were different plants so the marks looked a little bit different. They finally figured out it was their "SAE" doing the damage. I wonder if that's what's doing the damage in your tank, too? I can't remember exactly how they figured it out, but I vaguely remember that maybe they looked in their tank at night, well after lights out, with a flashlight? Maybe you can move your CAE for a couple weeks and see if that stops the damage on your new growth?

Sorry for the "I'm not sure" and "I don't remember exactly" parts. I wouldn't even have offered this info since I figured someone else more knowledgeable would chime in. But I figured you might be open to a shot in the dark atleast. Hope you figure it out! :)

Thats a good thought but I dont think that the CAE (Chinese algae eater) is the problem. He also sucks on the Amazon Swords but does not leave those marks. His mouth is also a lot larger than the marks left on the leaves.
Aren't swords' leaves a lot tougher than wisteria leaves, as in able to take more abuse? It seems like mine are.

Other than the CAE being it, I have no idea. I've done a LOT of reading on this forum and have yet to see anything that looks remotely like those marks on your plant except that one time I already mentioned. Good luck on finding out what it is. :)
Is the wisteria the only plant not doing well?
The wisteria and another weed (which I dont think is aquatic) are the only ones that have these makes. All of the other plants have a few problems but not to bad. My java ferns have some slightly transparent spots on them as do some of the swords.
can we get some info on the tank specs?
lighting, CO2 or no, ferts schedule, paramaters if you have them....
My tank specs can be viewed on my journal by clicking below. As far as ferts go I dont have a rigid schedule yet. I am dosing (all seachem) potassium, nitrogen, flourish, and occasionally excel. I dose the flourish and nitrogen according to the instructions on the bottle but I double the dosing suggested for the potassium. I have some dry ferts coming in the mail from Rex so as soon as I receive those I will begin a proper dosing schedule.

Thanks again for all your help.
