I'm trying to find a good low light plant for the foreground/groundcover for my 2.5g.

Low light is tough. I would try some moss.

how low of light? I have HM (Hemianthus micranthemoides, aka pearl grass) growing nice and low with only a 20w CF and excel for co2.

Marselia minuta (dwarf four leaf clover) would work well in low light also.

It's not hard to go high light in a nano tank... Ferts are way more cheaper in a nano tank too. If money is your problem then you must be reeaaallly poor.

But I second the Marselia minuta. Creeping moss may be nice.

Well I have 23w so I guess it's not that low , and ferts aren't a problem.

No 23w is by no means low light in a 2.5g. 9w would be low light. 23w is plenty to grow just about any foreground plant you want.
