what to do w/ 20g long

912 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Lupin
I have an empty 20g long and want to get it set up and running around the holidays.

I have a few ideas for fish, but was thinking either
1-2 rams as well as a large school (maybe 11) of tetras and 3 marbled hatchetfish

OR

1-2 pearl gouramis, 10 or so rasboras (or whitecloud minnows), and a pair of honey goramis

OR

1 spotted climbing perch (Ctenopoma acutirostre) and about 7 dwarf rainbows, and maybe something else

OR

4-6 honey gouramis, 4 panda cories, and 7-10 rasboras or whiteclouds

all the setups would include driftwood, lots of plants, and eco complete and/ or flourite for substrate. I am also considering getting a zebra pelco, because of their AMAZING patterns, small size, and cuteness, and adding that in too. suggestions for other fish are welcome.

Mudskippers.
could I keep 1 mudskipper w/ some bumble bee gobies (4-9) and maybe 1 open water brackish fish in the 20g?

I am pretty sure I will be getting either the ram setup or the spotted climbing perch setup tho (and maybe add in a pearl gourami), as I have always want those 2 fish, and I want to try something different.
Yes you could keep that. I had 3 skippers and some BBG's in a 20L did fine.
I think I will be doing
1m/1f rams
10 tetras
5 panda cories
maybe a zebra pleco

for the tetras, I am looking into several, they are
rummynose tetras
carndinal tetras
black neon tetras
red/black phantom tetras
gold tetras

I don't think you should get a zebra pleco unless you plan to breed them. Wild-caught species have already been banned in the trade. The remaining captive-bred ones must be kept in production so the supply will not run out. Stick with other plecos.

Stick with 1-2 species only. 6 deep bodied ones and 10 small torpedo-shaped ones will be fine. Try Hyphessobrycon amandae, Nematobrycon palmeri and Inpaichthys kerri.
