What the heck is this? Shrimp eating leaves?

Can it be that my amano shrimp are eating the leaves of this whatever-it-is?

Sure looks like it from the way this largest amano is going at the leaves here. Stripped bare.

most likely a nutrient deficiency... the shrimp are probably eating it cause they know its dieing. as far as i know shrimp do not eat healthy live plants
