hey i am going to buy 45 pounds of flourite for my 55 what should i put on top of that

i have some nasty brown colored playsand


where do i get pool filter sand

how much is it

Fluorite is fine uncapped no need for anything else unless your going for a certain look and feel for the tank.

PFS can be found at any local pool/spa store.

Sand will end up settling below the Flourite, and the Flourite will rise to the top.

how much should i rinse the flourite

i rinsed small portions of my flourite at a time in pitchers- i would prob just put it in a bucket with a constant hose going and stir until the water is coming out semi-see through brown. it will start out like super dark chocolate milk mud haha. mine settled in 24 hrs once in the tank. i capped mine with black marine sand, but yea- it has mixed and the flourite is making its way back to the top

how much should i rinse the flourite

I take mine outside, fill a bucket 1/2 way with Flourite, and blast it with a garden hose till the water runs off clear.

Usually takes about 10-15 min that way per bucketfull.
