I just bought one from PetSmart, and they labeled it a Red Tailed Shark, but it has red pectoral fins. It looks like the one in this link. Anyone has seen these before? I'm not sure if I want it. But then again, if it's really rare, then I might want to keep it.

The Red Tail Black Shark (Epalzeorhynchos bicolor), is all black expect a red caudal/tail fin.
The Rainbow Shark (Epalzeorhynchos furnatus/frenatum) has a black body, but all fins are red.

Might be Epalzeorhynchos munense??

Guess hybrids (between the two common species above) can't be completely ruled out?

I don't know all too much about that genus though.

Whatever it is a hybrid, rare species or not, I hope it is kept in a proper tank size with compatible tankmates and suitable water parameters.

It looks like a rainbow shark to me. I have an albino rainbow shark, and the shape and fins look the same. They are beautiful and love hiding spots.

I meant to say it looks like a rainbow shark cross. XD i think rainbow sharks are supposed to have all red fins.

I believe this is a red tail shark just being sold exceptionally young. I have seen them in the store this way and think it will turn the normal color once it grows out some.
