The Bacopa (left side plant) is normally grown as a bog groundcover type plant. I have Lemon Bacopa (Bacopa caroliniana) that I've had with some pond plants for a few years, when you grow it submerged it will grow tall up to the light and spit out a couple leaves on the sides every couple inches.
