About the DVDs, look at it this way, maybe she wants to snuggle and watch the dvds with you!
Congrats on the new filter! It's definitely a keeper, and sounds like your GF is too for getting it for ya ^^
My only suggestion: Make sure you have or get a little thing of Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) to grease up the rubber seal around the edge of the top of the canister every so often. Mine needs it about every 3rd or 4th cleaning of the filter. It's not a sunsun thing, its a 'keeping the rubber seal good' thing, and will make sure you're filter never leaks
