My tank isn't fully cycled yet and I've been getting high nitrites so I've been doing big water changes every other dayBlack spots kind of look like spot algae, I think. Very hard to see anything but the normal tan diatoms. I think I see what you're talking about, though. You are definitely going through an imbalance. How regularly have you been doing water changes?
Yes it's very easy to remove and is taken out by the filter after I remove it. I just got some Tropica Specialised Fertilizer so hopefully that'll take care of it. I heard it's much better than Seachem.I think spot algae has something to do with a phosphate imbalance, but I'm not 100% on that one. It takes a little bit of fussing around to find the right balance of nutrients in the beginning. Are the spots hard to remove?
Okay I'll have to keep that in mind. I also noticed I have some on my plants. I thought it was just dirt but it does look like algae.Be careful keeping your filter on when manually removing algae- it can lead to algae spreading to areas it wasn't in before (some types).
I think your right, I have had the lights on for only 5 hours for about a week now. They used yo be 7-8 before CO2. Hopefully they slowly die off.The algae on the s repens looks like diatoms. I will have to look at the other pics a little closer when I'm not running around lol
