I've been reading here for awhile, and trying to offer what little knowledge I have when I can. Many of you have way more knowledge and experience when it comes to planted tanks that I will some day acquire, course by then you'll still have more.

Anyways, I always see the questions ask, what does your phosphate test as? What does you iron test as? However, I have yet to see anyone recommend a specific kit, testing agents, etc. etc.

So whats your favorite test kits? Or brand of reagents?

I prefer meters, but I do have and use some test kits.

I have pH, TDS and ORP meters.

I have the AP Master test kit plus Gh, Kh and Calcium.

I also have the Seachem Iron and, I think, Phosphate test kits.

About the only test kits I use these days are Nitrate, Gh and Kh. I just added an emersed plant filter, so I've been checking nitrates. I've been adding 100% RODI water, so I checked the Gh and Kh last week. Before that I hadn't testing anything for a month or more.

After a while ya just kinda get an idea of what's going on, but I think some test kits are Good to have on hand to help You learn and to check for whatever reason that You may want to check.

How much are you looking to spend.
The best I have are Lemotte, but they are expensive

I have a Seachem PO4 that is OK, I have also used the Hagen PO4 that is also decent

For PH, KH I use the AP test kit
GH I use a tetra

I would have thought this would have gotten more response. I use the AP freshwater Master kit for the usuals, GH, KH, Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates.

I have never really tested for anything else, as right now, I pretty much stick with very simple plants. Anacharis, Amazon swords, spiral vals, and Cabomba.

I'll look at the LaMotte kit. I was looking at the Nutrafin master test kit also.
