Are there go-to attachments for the Python Hook so it sucks more water (goes deeper) out of the tank? I pushed a hose through (that seemed pretty tight) but the syphon broke when the water reached the connection

The Python Hook is usually only for refilling the tank with new water and not for draining it. You could try and take the Python Hook to any hardware style store and find some vinyl hose that would fit over the 'short' end so you could use it for vacuuming your tank though that is what the Python Drain and Clean tube is used for.

Most people just shut the Python valve off and switch to the Python Hook when they are ready to refill their tank.

You either put enough hose on the rim so you don't have to worry about the regular python slipping out or you buy yourself a rubber coated spring clamp. Something like this (or a similar model) and use that to hold the hose in the tank.
