I've posted a lot of new threads in the past week, but this should be my last one for a little while. This is my first planted tank, so I want to make sure I'm doing things right.
My 47 gallon tank is low budget for now (I want to make sure I can keep plants alive before I jump into high tech).
I bought all-purpose sand for it, but I know it's inert. I'll be adding root tabs to the substrate, but is there anything else I can do to improve plant health and growth? For example, should I put a thin layer of something else underneath the sand? Alternatively, I could mix something with it. I'm all ears! Or...eyes in this case.
