Trigonostigma espei, Lambchop Rasboras, are small, tight schoolers & are one of most vibrantly red freshwater aquarium fish.

Pencilfish
Have 20-ish Beckford Pencilfish in my 75g and they school better than any other small fish I've ever had.

Black Skirt tetra's school fairly well... but they are larger bodied so tough to get a large school in smaller tanks and they are not very active.

Not sure rummynoses are a great fit in a 12-gallon tank unless it's really long.

As someone said, a lot of rasboras are good schoolers. Exclamation points are another type to look at.
