I've been getting weird growth with my rotala green. I's been growing quite fast and nicely but the problem is that it grows very horizontally with it's leaves really close to it's stem, except at the tip. The leaf shape is fine but the way they grow is a bit weird.

Any of you guys get growth like this? Thanks

That looks normal. It's near the surface and the light intensity is high.
I'd disagree. I think the picture is pretty bad. The problem isn't that it's growing horizontally, but rather that the leaves are clinging to the stem. Also the the plants are pretty far from the surface, maybe more than half way down the tank. If you look at my journal, it's placed behind the HM (HG) on the right side of the tank. Sorry for the confusion

It still looks normal. R. sp. "Green" can tolerate low light levels well and tends to crawl along the substrate.

Are the leaves only folded where it's horizontal?
Ah I see. And yes it's only where it's horizontal.

That almost looks like roots.
Oh I'm sorry, the arrows are supposed to point to the leaves and not the roots, sorry for the confusion.

Here's a better picture. Sorry about the algae, battling green water.

The lower leaves are what I'm talking about.

Oh I just remembered, the leaves fold down because the stem is (or was) growing at a downward angle. This way, by folding the leaves are closer to the light source. But since the stem had it's position changed, then leaves haven't the time to right itself. Give it an hour or so and it should return to the regular light gathering position.
