I have plenty of manzanita branches, and i thought about using outdoor cememnt in a bag, place branch in it until driend and then wrapping the bag around the cement and then place under substrate??/ Anyone do this or think it will work, as the cement itself is no good for water i hear.

I've used a thin piece of slate, drill hole through and attach wood using stainless steel screw. Works like a charm.

That sounds great, have plently of slate around here, that outta work, now about that manzanita, how well does it stay good, new looking ?
