wats ur setup and review on setup for noobs

Well, I have a few questions:

1.) Which models are the filters?

2.) Are you using DIY or Pressurized Co2?

3.) How much lighting? Is that fixture 1x96W, 2x96W, etc...?

Personally I have a 46 Gallon BowFront that I just changed from hi-tech to low tech for the time. I'm planning to change it back and will have the following setup myself:

2x96W AH Supply Lighting
1x2216 Ehiem Filter
Pressurized Co2 by Rex Grigg.

37g tank - basically a tall 29g. I'd rather have a bow front tank, but this was really cheap. Only down side is that it's only 12" deep front to back. Kind of limiting. Height is nice though. Open top tank.

Filter - Rena Filstar XP2. Nothing bad to say about this filter. It's pretty quiet contrary to some popular belief. Very easy to setup, prime, and forget.

Substrate - Soilmaster Select (a.k.a. SMS) charcoal with root tabs. This stuff is pretty good for the price ($15 for 50#). A bit on the light side, so you'll need plant weights for those stems that just want to float. I used little strips of velcro for weight. Does not cloud up at all when you're digging around in the substrate. Hills seem to hold their shape as well. Just be sure to rinse it before putting it in the tank.

Lighting - Current USA Satellite dual 65w PC fixture with mounting legs to raise 3" off of tank. I'm currently only running a single bulb. I was running both bulbs when the tank was a reef setup. One of my ballasts did give out. I only ran the fan whenever both bulbs were on. No fan when only the actinic bulb was on. Guess which ballast died. Yup, the one running the actinic. Now if the lights are on the fan is on. Ballast replacement was easy, although it did require a bit of wire frankensteining due to short leads on replacement ballast.

Heater - Submersible stealth heater. It does the job and is "stealthy". Water temps are a pretty constant 75. House temp is an average of 67 so far now that it's starting to get cold.

CO2 - Whatever is in the water column. No injection/excel dosing of any sort.

Plants - Mosses, crypts, fast growing stems, dwarf lily pad, and anubias. All growing at a rate I can keep up with.

Livestock - Some unidentified snails and 6 otos. New tank, so not too many inhabitants.
