I got my master test kit in the mail yesterday and yes you know it I went right away and tested my water.

Here are the readings:
p.H: 6.8
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0
Ammonia: 0

I believe I am suppose to have at least 5-10ppm of nitrite?

Hey I just did the same thing, I think you are supposed to have nitrates not nitrites. When your bacteria convert your nitrites (ammonia) to nitrates, it's a good thing, so after a tank is cycled you should have no nitrite and up to 20-40ppm of nitrates (for a planted tank). If your tank's cycled and you have no nitrates for your plants then you can start dosing. (someone correct me if I am wrong).....

Yeah I have no nitrates but once I get the chance to buy marco and micro nutrients from greg watson, i'm sure there will be nitrates. I get nitrite and nitrates mixed around, sorry.
