I'm having a hard time finding what the parameters should be for wild bettas. All I hear is 'soft water' but no numbers.

A long time ago I found an ideal parameters for a betta, listed as:

GH: 7-9 dGH
KH: 5-8 DKH
pH: 6-8 (7 is best)
Temperature: 75-80

Is this the same for wild bettas such as betta imbellis?

I've not kept b. imbellis but those read a little hard to me, especially the 7-9 dgH - I believe even betta splendens prefer it softer if possible, but will tolerate harder. Betta imbellis, on the other hand, would likely have less of a range.

Seriously fish shows the range for b. imbellis as pH 5.0-7.5 and gH 18-179ppm, so about 1-10 dgH. I'd aim for the lower end of that though, probably pH 6.8 (7 max), gH around 5 or below.

Hope this helps!
