I'm new to the whole planted tank thing. I've kept fish for MANY years, and living in central Iowa with a lot of lime in our soils, I've always known to have high pH, but have never had to worry about it for my cichlids because they thrive in those conditions.
I am a bit more concerned with plants. My tap water parameters are:
GH - around 200 ppm
Chlorine - around .75 ppm
KH - around 80 ppm
pH - around 7.5
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate- around .5 (this one confuses me)
Could someone be so gracious to explain any problems and what exactly everything means? Like I said, I've never had to worry about any of this before.
I appreciate all your help on this forum. It has been a very easy transition for me!
