water clarity and diatoms

Has anyone ever used Purigen?? My water is not as clear as I have seen others. I think it may be tannins from my driftwood but am not sure. I will try to attach a pic of my tank. It is a work in progress as this is my first planted tank. Ph is 7.5, Ammonia 0, Nitrates .05. T5 bulbs. I just took the glas tank cover off to try to get more light thinking that may help with my diatom problem. Sorry for the crappy picture but my cell phone is the only camera I have at the moment.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Have you tried cleaning the glass?

I remember when I thought my water was cloudy, then I bought a magfloat, and oh boy was I wrong

its a long shot haha... but I'd like to try purigen.. does it remove tannis I wonder though. I like my tannins
Diatoms in my expierience are common in newly set up tanks of less than three months old and usually subside on their own. I recently set up a tank and diatoms appeared at around two weeks and were gone at eight weeks.
I cleaned the glass with clean papertowel folded into fourths every three or four days and just waited them out.
