How should I clean out the inside of my water change hose? It is clear 3/8 inch 8ft long.
Growing black nasty stuff inside.
Bleach, Excel, other?

What you need is a test tube brush or the like and some dish soap or other mild cleaner. Send some hot soapy water through the hose and then use a long piece of wire attached to the soaped up brush to pull it through the line. Repeat as necessary. Same thing works with canister filter hoses too, just make sure you rinse it very well to get all the soap out. I might add there are a number of ways to get these hoses clean and they all work pretty well, but this is how I do it.

On my 25 Ft Python I let it soak in a tub of very mild bleach water , or even run a pump on it for a bit . If anything left I stuff a piece of filter floss in it hook it to the faucet and use the water pressure to run it to the end and repeat . A little time but gets it very clean .
