Hey All! So I just had to get rid of my 9.5" long rhino pleco, as he was too big for my tank, but also pooped so much it was killing my bio-load (not a good thing for a discus tank.)

I am looking for warm water (my tank is at 82.5 degrees for the discus) algae eaters. I currently have a flying fox, but they cannot live with one another when they get older. I have had good experiences with ottos in my previous tanks, but my tank is too warm, and ive heard they will suck on the discus for the discus' nutritionally rich slime.

That being said, any other ideas out there?

Thanks!
E

There are larger breeds of snails that help with diatoms like mystery and nerite snails.
But with any algae eater you're going to get a large bioload. If you're concerned for discus water quality its best you remove algae yourself instead of getting fauna to do it.

Yes my plan was to attack with the glass cleaning scrubber this evening...

Nerite snails are far better algae eaters than Plecos in my experience. I haven't had to clean the inside of my glass since getting them once. They do a great job on my driftwood as well.

Edit: go for zebra, black or olive. They grow to be the largest and the hungriest.
